A 36-year-old cyclist had to be rushed to Mater Dei hospital last night after being involved in a road accident.

The accident happened at 8.30pm and involved a Seat Ibiza driven by a 24-year-old man from Birżebbuġa and a 36-year-old male cyclist from Żabbar on Triq Alfredo Cachia Zammit in Żejtun.

Both police and a medical team arrived on the scene and an ambulance was called in to take the cyclist to hospital. It was later certified that he was suffering from serious injuries.

Investigations are going.
