Police have arrested 38 irregular migrants living in Malta without the proper documentation.

Police made the arrests during inspections in St Paul’s Bay and Bugibba, the latest in a major operation to curb irregular migration.

The 38 included people from Pakistan, Syria, Afghanistan and Ghana.

Authorities will now begin a process to return them to their home countries. More inspections are expected in the coming days.

Earlier this week, 184 were repatriated after being found in Malta without the appropriate documents.
