A 42-year-old man from Qrendi is at risk of dying after getting caught between a digger and an industrial piece of machinery while working at the Magħtab plant yesterday afternoon.

Police were informed about the incident at around 7.30pm, after the man was taken to hospital from the waste treatment plant in Magħtab, Naxxar.

The man suffered serious injuries at around 4.30pm, after he got caught between a digger, which was being manned by a 52-year-old man from Mellieħa, and an industrial machine.

It was later certified that he is suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit is leading an inquiry.

Investigations from the Occupational Health and Safety authority are ongoing.
