42-Year-Old Żebbuġ Cyclist Hospitalised After Being Hit By BMW On Coast Road
A male cyclist has been hospitalised after being struck by a vehicle while cycling along the Coast Road in Naxxar.
The 42-year-old man, from Żebbuġ, was rushed to hospital via ambulance following the incident, which occurred at around 7.40am today.
A crowd of cyclists gathered and watched nearby as medics tended to the cyclist. Early Sunday morning traffic was closed in the direction of Saint Andrew’s as investigations were underway following the collision.
The incident occurred near the salt pans of Salina. The driver of the vehicle, a BMW, is from St Paul’s Bay.
Police told Lovin Malta the cyclist’s condition is still unknown.
Collisions and crashes have become the norm on Maltese roads, with no less than 16 road fatalities recorded over the last eight months on the island.
