45 People Arrested After Being Found Living And Working Irregularly In Malta
45 individuals from Albania, Nepal, Syria, Nigeria, Ghana, and Mali were detained by the police in Malta after being found to be living and working in the country irregularly.
The arrests occurred during coordinated traffic checks in various localities, including Raħal Ġdid and Burmarrad.
In addition to these detentions, two drivers were charged for operating vehicles without valid driving licenses, while Transport Malta took action by removing cars from the road that lacked proper licenses and insurance.
JobsPlus is also investigating irregular employment practices involving foreign workers as part of this crackdown.
The operations saw enforcement officers from Transport Malta and the police issuing multiple contraventions related to non-compliance with traffic laws and vehicle regulations.
Officers from the Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers and the Identity Malta Agency also assisted in these operations.
Those found living in the country irregularly have been placed in detention centres, where they will remain until they are repatriated to their country of origin or a country where they can legally reside.
This operation is part of an ongoing effort by the authorities aims to combat abuse and enhance security across Malta.
