A 54-year-old Tarxien resident was killed after being hit by a car in Valletta Street, Mdina in the early hours of this morning.

Upon fleeing to the scene, the police discovered that he was hit by a Peugeot 208 which was being driven by a 20-year-old man residing in Qrendi. 

The accident happened at half past midnight.

A medical team provided assistance but unfortunately, the victim was certified dead on the spot.

Police Magistrate Rachel Montebello ordered an inquiry. Investigations are still ongoing.
