80-Year-Old Man Dies After Encountering Difficulty While Swimming At St Thomas Bay

An 80-year-old man died yesterday at St Thomas Bay, Marsaskala.

Yesterday at around 6 pm the police were informed there was someone who needed assistance after experiencing difficulty while swimming in St Thomas Bay.

The police and a medical team from Mater Dei went on site and together with the help of the Civil Protection Unit and Armed Forces the person was brought up from the sea.

Unfortunately, the man was certified dead on the spot. The victim was identified as an elderly man living in Żejtun.

Magistrate Dr Yana Micallef Stafrace was informed of the case and ordered an inquiry.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.
