An 85-year-old man is at risk of dying after a hit-and-run in Luqa.

The incident occurred at around 5.30am along Triq Ċensu Decandia.

The 85-year-old resident of Luqa was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital, where it was certified that he is suffering from injuries of a serious nature. 

Two cars that were parked in the area, a Daihatsu Terios and a Mazda Demio, also underwent damage due to the hit-and-run.

Police investigations and a search for the driver that committed the hit-and-run are ongoing.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech is leading an inquiry.
