A 95-year-old man from Rabat last night succumbed to his injuries sustained when his daughter lost control of a car she was driving and crashed into a tree in Triq Valletta, Attard. 

The elderly man, identified as Carmel Deguara, was rushed to hospital after the freak accident yesterday afternoon but was pronounced dead a few hours later. The condition of his daughter, aged 70, is still unknown. 

TVM footage shows the car’s bumper and hood completely smashed, the windscreen cracked and the wing mirror just about hanging on.
