98 Kilos Of Suspected Cocaine Seized At Malta Freeport In Shipment From Ecuador

Authorities at Malta Freeport intercepted a massive drug shipment on Wednesday afternoon, seizing approximately 98kg of suspected cocaine hidden inside a container arriving from Ecuador.
The operation, led by the police in collaboration with Customs Department officials, uncovered the illicit cargo during a routine inspection. The container, which was carrying boxes of frozen shrimp, had been shipped from Guayaquil, Ecuador, and was destined for Genoa, Italy.
Upon further inspection, officers found four suspicious bags concealed between the boxes, which were later confirmed to contain the suspected substance.
A magisterial inquiry has been launched into the case, led by Magistrate Joe Mifsud, as investigations continue.
