‘A Europe Of Hope’: Roberta Metsola’s Sincere Message Ahead Of EP President Election
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has posted a sincere message ahead of her potential re-election as the chamber’s president next week.
“This Tuesday, I am running for another term as President of the European Parliament because I strongly believe in Europe,” Metsola wrote on social media.
“I am convinced of the huge positive change that Europe has brought and continues to bring in people’s lives. In all cities, regions, islands, towns and villages, from Helsinki to Nadur, Madeira to Warsaw, Europe is the answer.”
“I want a stronger, safer and fairer Europe, that people can feel and touch in their daily lives. A Europe of hope, that transforms our young people’s dreams into reality, that protects, that provides opportunities, that guarantees rights to workers, that supports investment.”
On Tuesday, the European Parliament will elect its next president who will hold the role for the next two years and Metsola is one of the contenders as the EPP Group’s nomination.
If Metsola gets re-elected, it will be historic as it would be the second time in European history that an EP President to serve more than one term. The only one who got elected twice until now was Martin Schulz who served between 2012 and 2017.
