A Knife And Filled Syringes: Police Tell Court What They Found In Keith Cremona’s Car Post-Chase

A police officer told the court of the questionable items found in 34-year-old Keith Cremona’s car after a Marsa car chase led to his arrest.

The officer fired no less than nine shots at Cremona’s car in an effort to get him to stop driving as the chase ensued. He even hit the car with three shots.

Cremona was already on the police’s radar, having been arrested on 5th July out of suspicion of being involved in setting a car on fire. He was, however, on police bail.

On Wednesday, the court was told that Cremona’s appearances at the local police station began waning, leading officers to search for him.

After finding him by a Ħamrun kiosk, police officers recognised his car and asked him to stop. However, he made a U-turn and began driving. Allegedly, he was driving fast and erratically, even going through one-way streets and through red lights.

According to one testimony, he almost hit a pedestrian who happened to be walking by the scene.

Police were left with no alternative but to fire shots at his car. However, he still refused to pull over.

As the chase went through Marsa, Cremona’s car hit a motorbike, greviously injuring the motorcyclist – an off-duty policeman. One officer said that the collision sent his colleague “tumbling through the air”.

Cremona was later stopped at Paul Boffa Road and arrested. But a police search of his vehicle led police to find a 20-centimeter knife, scissors, and two syringes filled with an unidentified, brown liquid. All items, along with a mobile phone were confiscated by police.
