A Tiny Food Van Near Rinella Bay Is Going Viral For Its Humble Prices And Bountiful Portions

A food van in Rinella Bay, Kalkara, is casually going viral for its low prices, abundant portions and sea views.

As more and more consumers are thinking twice about where to spend their spare cash and inflation breaks the bank for many, people began sharing the handwritten menu from the Chef Express Kiosk at Rinella Bay online.

At €2.40 for a beef burger and €3.50 for an English Breakfast, the Chef Express Kiosk menu began to appear in finance advice groups as well as large general social media pages over the last few weeks.

Now, queues are forming as diners head down to the south for some cheap, friendly eats in a quiet area by the sea.

The kiosk, run by a woman lovingly known as Josette, has your standard take-away fare, so don’t expect anything out of the box.

But it is exactly for this reason that the non-pretentious, not-overpriced food is being sought out by diners.

One diner who ordered the English Breakfast over the weekend – and was happily satisfied – told Lovin Malta that he wanted to go there after seeing people post about Chef Express Kiosk on social media.

“The van owners are lovely people. A business like that doesn’t need to do marketing, people do the marketing for them,” he told Lovin Malta.

“Good food, prices everyone can afford, service with a smile, and good portions. To a family with kids who want to enjoy a day by the sea, this truck really provides a service comfortable for everyone.”

Online, people had a lot to say about the current price situation when it came to most restaurants. From places charging €15 for burgers to others giving shoddy service, it seems like diners really appreciated a lowkey place that didn’t break the bank.

As countries all over the world face increased food costs and restaurants face major inflation challenges, it’s heartening to know that some places have kept their clients at the forefront of their thoughts – as much as that’s possible under current circumstances.
