‘Abela Has Shown A Renewed Sense Of Purpose’: Neville Gafà Explains Decision To Return To Castille

Just under a year ago, Neville Gafà said that Robert Abela should resign as Prime Minister if the PL is to win the next election.
Fast forward to August 2025 and he has been reinstated at Castille as a customer care coordinator, a similar role he had under Joseph Muscat’s administration.
In comments to Lovin Malta, Gafà said that Abela and the PL have shown they are ready to adapt and that his decision to return is based on this “renewed sense of purpose”.
“First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to Prime Minister Robert Abela for the trust he has once again shown in me. It is thanks to his leadership that I am back within the Government’s structures, and I am proud to contribute towards the work of this administration,” Gafà said.
“As everyone knows, in politics there are moments of agreement and moments of criticism.”
“My comments in the past reflected a particular context, but what is most important today is that under Robert Abela’s leadership, the Labour Government has once again demonstrated that it is a Government that listens to the people’s needs and adapts accordingly.”
He said that reforms and new initiatives since the MEP and local council elections, as well as a strong focus on stability and protecting families, are concrete proof of this.
“Since the 2024 MEP elections, it is clear that the Labour Party has come out stronger, more united, and closer than ever to the people,” he said.
“Prime Minister Abela has shown humility and determination, steering the Government with a sense of responsibility that continues to safeguard stability while delivering results for Maltese and Gozitan families.”
“My decision to return is thanks to the Prime Minister and based precisely on this renewed sense of purpose. I am convinced that with this team, under the Prime Minister’s leadership, we can continue building on the progress already achieved and deliver even more for the people.”
