ADPD Leader Has ‘No Regrets’ Over Edinburgh Fringe Stand-Up After Candidate Calls Her Out

ADPD leader and MEP candidate Sandra Gauci said she has “no regrets” about performing a stand-up gig at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019 after she was called out by independent candidate and history lecturer Simon Mercieca.

In her stand-up, Gauci joked about a breakup and her ex boyfriend’s penis size, and jokingly said she admires his new partner for having “such low expectations”.

In a blog post, Mercieca skirted past the fact that Gauci was performing a comedy routine and claimed the ADPD leader made a “public declaration about her sexual preferences”.

“Sandra Gauci once stated that her husband had a small penis, and this was the reason why she left him! One wonders what is the opinion of the transexual candidate in her party about this statement by Sandra Gauci,” he wrote.

“Now, I will leave it to the viewers, after watching this video, to judge for themselves who are the real freaks in this EU election, whether she or the independent candidates and why the mainstream media supports her. Of course, The Times, Lovin Malta, and Malta Today will not stream or report this video.”

Gauci said that Mercieca shared her stand-up performance in a “malicious” and “vile” manner without providing any context.

“It seems as though humour isn’t Simon’s forte,” she said. “I have no regrets that I took part in the Edinburgh Fringe; the only regret I have is that people like Mercieca lecture at university.”
