Adrian Delia said “Malta has won” (Rebħet Malta) in his initial reaction to winning a landmark case against the government over the Vitals-Steward hospitals deal.

Delia posted a photo of the Maltese flag with the caption “Malta has won” moments after Judge Francesco Depasquale ruled that the deal was fraudulent and the St Luke’s, Karin Grech and Gozo hospitals had to be returned to the government.

It was a glorious moment for Delia, who filed the case against the government five years ago when he was Nationalist Party leader.

Judge Francesco Depasquale today ordered the annulment of the deal and the return of the three hospitals to the government within the next thee months, with all costs to be borne by Steward Malta.

Depasquale ruled there was fraud in three stages of the process – before the original contract with Vitals was signed, during the deal itself and after Steward took over.
