Adrian Delia: ‘These Were The Best Four Weeks Of My Political Life’

Embattled PN leader Adrian Delia today declared that the past four weeks of turbulence were actually “the best weeks of (his) political life”.

Meeting the general councillors ahead of the vote of confidence helped him discover the “true heritage” of the Nationalist Party. He said these people loved the party and the country.

“I called a few, and hundreds responded,” he said, as he detailed some of the discussions he had with councillors of goodwill.

While urging for unity, Delia also warned that there were people who had an interest in the party’s destruction and also people who wanted to rid the party of its Christian-Democrat values and heritage.

Today, the General Council will vote on whether they have confidence in Delia’s ability to lead the party.

At one point, Delia presented a speech which he had written for the General Council when he was part of the party’s youth wing 33 years ago. Delia said he was “born in the Nationalist Party, raised in the Nationalist Party, worked for the Nationalist Party” and would continue to serve until his death.

He added that he wanted to be like former leader Eddie Fenech Adami, who was constantly attacked but never gave up.
