A search led by the Armed Forces of Malta for a 42-year-old Finnish man who fell from Fort St Elmo on Friday is still underway.

Police told Lovin Malta this morning that while the body has still not yet been found, the identity of the man has been confirmed.

The incident happened at around 2pm on 10th February, while Storm Helios was battering the eastern coast of the island.

As a result, AFM deployed a helicopter and a rib, which are still circling around the island at the time of writing.

Unfortunately, the search and rescue mission proved to be challenging due to the rough wind and seas experienced over the public holiday.
