Four policemen were injured in the act of arresting a 33-year-old Serbian man who had been on the run since February.

The man eluded police since 17th February following a fight at Wied il-Għajn that resulted in a 29-year-old resident of the area being injured.

Police, alongside members of the Rapid Intervention Unit, came to learn that the man in question was frequenting an establishment in Gzira and wasted no time in pursuing him.

As police attempted to make his arrest, he refused to cooperate and even resisted arrest.

The ensuing scuffle led to four policemen being injured in their attempt to arrest him. Luckily, they only sustained light injuries from the confrontation.

The Serbian man is currently being held at the Police Headquarters in Floriana, while police investigations are still ongoing.
