After Losing His Daughter – And Nearly His Own Life – Bormla Father Dedicates His Remaining Days To Making Others Happy

Around two and a half years ago, Lorry was rushed to hospital after suddenly feeling short of breath. What he found out led to him changing his life – and now, the father of six has one mission: making others happy.

“I was told that my lung was no longer functioning and I did not have too much time left to live. I asked to be taken home so should I die at least I take my last breaths surrounded by my family,” Lorry said in a new interview with The People of Malta.

Instead of dying, Lorry remained alive – and he started thinking about his cigarette habit, something he’s now stopped.

“I used to smoke three packets a day, costing me around €400 a month. I said to myself ‘I am spending all this money to kill myself. Can’t I use this money to make others happy instead?'”

“So I started making clocks and sticking photographs of people and gifting it to them. They really enjoy it when I go up to an artist or some popular singer to give them the clocks I prepare!”

“I buy a clock, find a photograph of the person and I modify it to make it personalised. When I meet them I am over the moon. They sometimes shed a tear when they see my surprise. And I am in seventh heaven.”

Instead of letting his potential health problems hold him back, Lorry was determined to make the most of the rest of his life.

“Every day is a bonus to me.”

“I am happy that the Lord has lent me another day because that means that I have been given the chance to make another person happy,” he said, before opening up about losing his daughter four years ago.

“She was just 34-years-old,” he recounted. “She went to hospital with stomach pain and never made it back out again. Her husband died two years later.”

“I have six children, three boys and three girls including my daughter who passed away. Though she has left me I go and visit her grave everyday. She died suddenly and without warning. It was my birthday.”

“She passed away and the next day I received the gift she had purchased and ordered for me. My children are everything to me.”
