After Titti, Little Tina Is Set To Continue The Iconic St Peter’s Pool Jumping Dog Legacy

The canine heiress to one of Malta’s most famous dogs’ thrones is currently on her way up – and she’s already got people barking about her.

For years, Carmelo Abela had wowed locals and tourists visiting St Peter’s Pool in Marsaxlokk with his synchronised diving alongside Titti. The free-diving Jack Russell quickly became a bit of a global icon, with one video about her racking up nearly 10 million views on YouTube alone

Following her death in January 2019, and a period of grieving Carmelo introduced little Tina to the world – and since then, she’s been working hard on her diving form.

In a new photo series by Mark Cassar, Carmelo and Tina dive, swim and play together in one of the most wholesome scenes on the entire island.

Speaking to Lovin Malta, Carmelo said that Tina’s diving technique was already developing well, and that it typically takes around four to five years to fully master the skill.

Tina had been donated to Carmelo by a Russian family, and comes from a “champion pedigree”.

The little dog had been given some pretty big boots to fill after Titti had been posthumously awarded a Lovin Social Media Award for ‘Best Pet’, but she’s already making waves  – and we have a feeling we’ll be seeing a whole lot more of her in the coming years.
