A brand new Airbus A320neo has joined Air Malta’s fleet and is equipped with WiFi and wider seats for comfort.

The aircraft is the third brand new 180-seater from Airbus and entered immediately into service last Thursday with a flight to Frankfurt.

The aircraft comes with some enhanced facilities including a modern interior and larger luggage storage.  The new A320neo will also reduce operating costs for Air Malta with its improved fuel efficiency of around 20%, which also means it is capable of longer-range flights.

“This aircraft is a welcome addition and another important step forward to continue reducing our fleet’s average age and improve aspects of customer experience, environmental commitment and airline reliability and efficiency.”

“It shows commitment to Air Malta’s growth strategy and a big investment in the airline,” said Air Malta’s Chairman Dr Charls Mangion.

Passengers will be most delighted to hear that the new aircraft will also feature WiFi on board, something that will be implemented within the next few months.

The addition of the A320neo forms part of Air Malta’s five-year replacement project that will see the airline operate a brand-new Airbus A320neo fleet by the year 2022.

“Air Malta is undergoing a transformation process which includes the shift to brand-new state-of-the-art Airbus Neo aircraft, growing a route network that now includes over 40 destinations and improving its inflight services in both economy and business class.”

The Maltese Government is committed to supporting the growth strategy adopted by Air Malta and the investment in the airline in the months and years to come,” added Minister for Tourism Konrad Mizzi.

The next batch of aircraft is expected to join the airline’s fleet next year.
