Alfred Camilleri Leaves Top Spot At Finance Ministry With Paul Zahra Replacing Him
Alfred Camilleri is leaving his post as the Permanent Secretary within the Finance Ministry with Paul Zahra replacing him.
Camilleri, who has been a Permanent Secretary within the ministry since 2006, has reached retiring age, with sources telling Lovin Malta that getting Malta off the FATF grey list was his last priority before leaving.
He will be replaced by Paul Zahra, who has been serving as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Economy, European Funds and Lands. He will be replaced by Ronald Mizzi.
Camilleri had made a name for himself within the Finance Ministry. However, he has been on the receiving end of criticism for his tenure during Joseph Muscat’s administration, since he signed off on a number of projects that have been plagued by serious allegations of corruption.
What dod you think of the change?
