Up until November 2022, a total of 1,873 driving licenses were revoked in Malta.

Of the number of licenses revoked, 251 were probationary, 1,382 were fully revoked licenses on the first revocation, and 340 underwent the second revocation.

That is 1,789 more than in 2018 which was when the new penalty system was set in motion, Newsbook has reported.

Back in December 2017, a new penalty system was implemented by Transport Malta stating that “a probationary driving license is revoked if, during the three-year probationary period, you accumulate 12 penalty points or more”.

“A full driving license shall be revoked if at any time during any period of twelve months, its holder accumulates in aggregate twelve penalty points or more.”
