An Entire Ice Rink (And Ferris Wheel) Are Being Built In Valletta For Christmas
While this has to be one of the most uncomfortable Christmases Malta’s ever experienced, plans are underway to turn Valletta into a Christmas Fairyland with family-friendly attractions such as ice rinks and Ferris wheels being built in the capital city.
“Join Santa, and his elves, as he lands for the first time in his favourite city in the Mediterranean full of fun, happiness and excitement, during the most wonderful time of the year…Christmas!”
Fairyland is an original adaptation of Santa’s story, with children being able to enjoy a “wonderful time viewing the city from up above the 32-metre high, Rudolphs wheel, hop on to Santas’ magical carousel, skate with our penguins on a 900m2 rink and get the opportunity to meet Santa, in his beautiful grotto, letting him know if they have been naughty or nice, get a photo taken and even a special gift! Adults will be able to enjoy a glass of mulled wine or a hot drink in Santa’s favourite Chalet by the Triton Fountain.”
Santa’s Fairyland, which is being organised by VisitMalta, will be taking over Valletta from the 12th December to the 5th of January.
The ice rink itself is already taking shape and is set to feature shows from Olympic ice-skating champions starting from next Friday.
The prices for the attractions range from €2.50 to €15.
The variety of activities on offer mean your children, nieces and nephews will probably love it – and worst comes to worst, you can at least watch the ongoing protests in Valletta atop the 32-metre high Ferris Wheel.
