The Anti-Poverty Forum Malta (APF) has strongly condemned the bomb threat made against the Paola mosque in recent days, calling for action against rising hate speech towards the Muslim community in Malta.

In a statement, APF expressed deep concern over the hostile comments and discriminatory rhetoric that have surfaced on social media, targeting both the Muslim community and the practice of Islam in Malta.

The organisation stressed that while freedom of speech is a fundamental right, it should never be used to incite harm, hatred, or violence against others.

“Although Malta practices freedom of speech, this freedom should never be used to instigate harm and hate towards others,” APF stated, urging authorities to take action and ensure that such harmful messages are removed from online platforms.

The bomb threat has sparked widespread concern, with APF extending its sympathy and support to the Muslim communities in Malta.

The organisation also called on law enforcement and regulatory bodies to enforce existing laws against hate speech and take necessary steps to prevent further escalation of discrimination.

As discussions on tolerance and inclusion continue, APF is urging the public to reject hate and division while advocating for a Malta that upholds respect, safety, and unity for all communities.
