The Malta Armed Forces were called to duty today, after the police received reports of a “suspicious-looking” bag that had been placed in front of the Birkirkara home of former Prime Minister and President Eddie Fenech Adami.

However, as reported by Net News, this turned out to be a false alarm and a search revealed that the bag was completely empty.

“The bag stirred panic inside Fenech Adami’s street, but it is as yet unknown how it ended up there,” the report read.

Eddie Fenech Adami, 84, was Malta’s Prime Minister from 1987 to 1996 and again from 1998 to 2004, and the country’s president from 2004 to 2009.
