The height of summer is here and while locals are enjoying their long-awaited holiday, Malta’s airport is gearing up for its busiest week of the year.

By the end of this week, over 185,000 people will pass through Malta’s airport, which is expected to peak on the Santa Maria public holiday (15th August). 182 aeroplanes carrying 30,000 people will take off and land on that day alone.

With close to 2,000 travellers passing through the terminal every hour, the Malta International Airport is advising people to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure.

Don’t worry about the long wait time. The airport has teamed up with its partners to provide free refreshments in the departure while its revamped seating area and duty-free service may help kill the time.
