Sociologist Michael Briguglio from the MSA stated that the Government has proposed that the Sliema Chalet and two sites in Triq Dawret il-Qawra in St. Pauls Bay should no longer be considered in the public domain.

In the feedback provided to the Planning Authority on the issue, the MSA stated that ‘the entire policy process in question should employ social impact assessments, in an ongoing process.’

The MSA cited the International Principles for Social Impact Assessment as to why an assessment is needed before these sites can no longer be classified in the public domain.

Furthermore, they emphasised that studies like these should be ongoing processes that work together with the involvement of stakeholders.
