At First, They Thought It Was A Double Chin. Then, Little Nicky Was Diagnosed With Leukaemia

It was Easter Holidays, and Annemarie was near her son Nicky at the dining room table when she saw what she first thought was something akin to a double chin.
However, she quickly realised it was not a double chin, but a gland.
At just 10 years of age, Nicky was diagnosed with stage 4 C3 Burkitt’s leukaemia – a very aggressive type of cancer.
The Rainbow Ward became Nicky’s new home. The weeks turned into months and the medical staff became his family over five months. It even got to the point where Nicky would wear a plunger on his shaved head to surprise the doctors and nurses and make them laugh.
The diagnosis was not just for Nicky but for the whole family. And this is where Puttinu Cares stepped in to provide so much more than shoulder for them to rest on.
Puttinu Cares have an upcoming fundraising marathon which will be aired live on all local channels on Good Friday. This year’s edition will run on April 7th, from 9am to 3pm and 9pm to midnight.
