Babel Is Back: Valletta Jazz Bar Reopens After Owner’s Tragic Passing

One of Valletta’s busiest bars has reopened, after briefly closing down when its owner’s tragically passed away in March.

Babel Bistro, found on Archbishop Street, is known for its daily live jazz jams, quirky furniture and; plenty of plants.

However, after Tomek Piotrowski’s sudden death in March, the future of Babel was thrown into the air.

Luckily, its new owners have pledged to keep Tomek’s spirit alive with the community he created in Valletta.

“A lot of discussions were had and a decision was made – Babel has to live in the memory of our dear friend Tomek, who managed to create the community and the vibe of live music right in the middle of Valletta! We’ll try to save the vibe as it was before, but of course, it’s 20/80, Tomek was always saying that everything depends on the guests”, a post on Babel’s social media read.

“So let’s meet and spend this summer all together as usual, without the roof over our heads, right on a street, with no perfect sits, live music and our tasty drinks, with loud deep talks, drunk friends and a lot of hopes.”
