Beloved Sliema Cat Bobby Attacked By Chow Chow, Now Looking For A Forever Home To Retire To

One of Sliema’s most recognisable cats has been viciously attacked and is now looking for a forever home to retire to.

“Sadly, Bobby was viciously attacked yesterday by a chow chow at around 7:35am. His legs were bent and he had wounds all over his body,” the page Cats of Independence Gardens posted online, sharing images of the injured ginger.

After being found “crying in agony”, cat feeders stayed with Bobby to attempt to calm him down before taking him to a vet for his wounds to be treated.

“He is doing well under the circumstances but has a long recovery ahead of him. Stef is nursing him back to health, and a police report was filed today. We appeal to anyone who witnessed the attack to make contact with us,” the group said.

Though Bobby is a Sliema mainstay, the group felt the best decision for the cat was to find him a proper home to recover and rest in.

“The best thing for Bobby is for him to retire in a safe, loving home away from any danger. We will miss him terribly but we need to do what is best for him. Bobby brought a lot of joy and happiness to a lot of people and he deserves the very best.”

“We are therefore appealing to anyone interested to adopt a very sweet, loving senior cat committed to giving him lots of attention and safety. Ideally he would be adopted by someone who can dedicate a lot of time for him, doesn’t have other cats and has a terrace, garden or a balcony where he can enjoy some outdoor sun too as he’s used to it.”

Prominent cat feeders as well as the Sliema Local Council also chimed in to share their support for Bobby.

Bob’s long been an icon of Independence Gardens, Sliema, even making it into a Lovin Malta feature a few years back.
