Bernard Grech Joins Malta’s Nepalese Community To Celebrate The Nepali New Year In Valletta
Malta’s Nepalese community celebrated the Nepali cultural New Year over the weekend in Valletta, seeing even Opposition Leader Bernard Grech in attendance.
The day, marked on 16th April, is also known as Nepal Day on an international level, marking the occasion of the Nepali New Year 2080.
The organisers later expressed that they were overwhelmed with the unexpected crowd that gathered and all the love that people brought with them for their community.
Along with Grech and his wife, who were the main guests for the day, there was also Marco Creomona, the first Maltese man to climb Mount Everest, Mark Galea Pace, who had made it to the Mount Everest Base Camp, Mark Sultana, an immigration consultant, Lawyer Jacob Magri, and Yurgen Briffa, representing the Valletta Local Council.
“The program was organised with the motive to invite people from different nationalities to visit Nepal and feel its beauty of it to increase and promote tourism in Nepal,” the organisers told Lovin Malta.
“We wanted to show that Nepal is a country of different cultures and customs living under one single roof with harmony and peace.”
Addressing the crowd, Grech expressed that Nepalese play a significant role in Malta’s economy, by coming to Malta to work all the way from their home country, with other guests also praising the Nepalese’s hospitality.
Mr. Prakash Bhandari, who is also president and founder, thanked the mass for the love and respect shown towards their home country.
