Bernard Grech Says Police Shouldn’t Investigate Aquilina Over Pilatus Leaks

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech has stood up for activist Robert Aquilina, who is currently facing a police interrogation over how the findings of a Pilatus Bank magisterial inquiry ended up in his possession.
In comments to Lovin Malta, Grech said that Aquilina’s domestic violence case shouldn’t be “instrumentalised” for other purposes. He refused to comment on the domestic violence case per se, stating that it is up to the institutions to investigate his wife’s claims.
This is Grech’s comment in full.
“Domestic violence is never acceptable. We have only seen media reports about the case and we naturally don’t have the details about what happened exactly, so we will let the institutions work with respect towards the truth.”
“However, this case should certainly not be instrumentalised for other reasons. In the Pilatus case, the police should investigate the information it should have investigated and not the source of the information.”
