A woman is at risk of dying after being involved in a traffic incident today.

Police were informed of a crash at around 12.30pm today in Triq il-Wied, Birkirkara.

The police immediately went to the scene, and from initial investigations it was found that a 66-year-old woman from Birkirkara was hit by a Volkswagen Golf driven by a 33-year-old man residing in Floriana.

The victim received medical assistance, was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, and was certified to have suffered serious injuries.

In the case, Magistrate Dr. Caroline Farrugia Frendo LL.D was informed and opened an inquiry, while police investigations are still ongoing.
