‘We Will Keep Working Until The Very Last Minute’: Bjorn Says From Hospital Bed Ahead Of Fundraiser
ALS hero Bjorn Formosa has issued a heartfelt plea from his hospital bed ahead of a fundraiser this weekend for Dar Bjorn Respite.
Bjorn has been in hospital since the start of September after a sudden medical scare but that doesn’t mean it’s stopped him or his team from ensuring that this weekend’s fundraiser is a success.
“We’re still here at Mater Dei for all these days but despite everything we continue tirelessly to work on the fundraising campaign which is fast approaching,” Bjorn told Lovin Malta.
“There are now only 10 days left and we will keep working until the very last minute so this marathon can be successful and we’d be able to open Dar Bjorn Respite.”
“Thank you for all the incredible support you’ve been sending and giving us during these truly tough times.”
“Every day brings a new update, something new to worry about but with your help and your strength.”
“We’re always moving forward and we hope we can pull off a beautiful feat on Sunday 25th September.”
Bjorn was diagnosed with ALS, a neurodegenerative neuromuscular disease that results in the progressive loss of motor neurons that control voluntary muscles, in 2015 when he was 28 years old.
Since then, he has won the nation’s hearts with his fundraising efforts for a respite home for neurological patients and his can-do attitude, even as his condition deteriorated.
Lovin Malta recently spent time behind the scenes to get a closer look at Bjorn, his wife Maria and their hard work creating better lives for those living with ALS – watch A Little Smile below.
