A violent and shocking scene unfolded in front of a number of passers-by in Qawra yesterday evening after a fight between two men left one sitting in a pool of blood as police and ambulances rushed to his side.

The incident went viral across social media with images and videos of the fight spreading like wildfire.

The two men, aged 24 and 25, both Nigerian, were rushed to hospital following the fight which happened at around 7pm on Triq Annetto Caruana.

They were both injured in the altercation, with the younger man being stabbed with a bottle and having sustained grievous injuries. The other man sustained slight injuries.

A number of photos and videos from the scene have already emerged online, with one particular photo showing the man lying down by the side of the road just opposite the Qawra church going viral on Facebook as many raised concerns on public safety.
