Both Maltese Tennis Players Have Moved On To The Australian Open Quarter Finals
In a first for the island, two Maltese girls have made it into the main draw for the Australian Open Junior Championship. 16-year-old Francesca Curmi and Helene Pellicano are making waves in the pro-circuit and doing their bit to represent #TeamMalta.
Sadly, both Francesca and Helene were eliminated from the Girls Single draw
However, they both emerged victorious in the first and second rounds of the Girls Doubles. Together with their doubles partners (Francesca with Loudmilla Bencheikh from France and Helene with Marta Cutsic from Spain), they will be competing in the quarter finals of the Australian Open.
After both of them defeating their opposing teams and reaching tie break in the first two sets, the girls will be moving on to compete in the quarter finals tomorrow.
