A hold-up in a jewellery store in Sliema’s Tignè Point at around 10am this morning left two people injured.

According to a TVM report, one of the salesmen was hit by a shot from a baton gun, while another man was hit by a hard object on his head. The thieves fled the scene from the Tignè Point carpark, and an anonymous witness told Lovin Malta that the getaway vehicle was reportedly a Suzuki Alto.

“Two people ran in the shop with wigs and masks or facepaint in the morning when the shop opened (approximately 9am),” an eyewitness told Lovin Malta.  “They started shooting at the showcases and put two male staff on the floor. They were talking in English, and the accent felt like Eastern European English. With an axe, they broke another showcase.”

“They ran out – they spent about six minutes in there. They hit a security with the back of a gun and they ran down to the -1 Level of the car park. There was a car waiting for them, a white Suzuki – and they sped away.”
