BREAKING: Yorgen Fenech Out On Police Bail Again As Pardon Is Discussed
Murder suspect Yorgen Fenech has been released on police bail once again as discussions continue on whether to grant him a presidential pardon.
Fenech has been held for days in connection with the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, after he was caught trying to escape Malta on his yacht. Despite days of questioning, Lovin Malta is informed that Fenech will not be arraigned tonight.
In fact, he has been released on police bail once again. So far, a presidential pardon has been granted to Melvin Theuma, the alleged middleman of the murder.
Early this morning Lovin Malta reported that the police received fresh information implicating Keith Schembri in corruption. Later, Lovin Malta reported that Schembri was mentioned in recordings between Theuma and Fenech regarding Caruana Galizia’s murder.
Keith Schembri resigned as the Prime Minister’s chief of staff after the revelations that he was being interrogated by the police. Konrad Mizzi, whose secret Panama company was also linked to a Dubai company belonging to Fenech (17 Black), stepped down this afternoon.
It is still unclear whether Prime Minister Joseph Muscat will be resigning. A protest will be held outside Castille today calling for his resignation.
