Students in Malta will be given a €64 increase in their stipends starting from next year, Finance Minister Clyde Caruana announced tonight in the 2024 Budget.

This comes amid a raft of new subsidies and increases, from pensions to First-Time Buyer schemes, aimed at supporting everyone from students to the elderly, Caruana continued.

Among the announcements was a new directive which will see 80,000 sqm2 of new green spaces created around Malta and Gozo.

This also comes as Malta is set to give out €350 million to subsidise electricity, water, fuel, cereals and animal feed next year. This year’s budget places a strong focus on subsidies, some set to be in place until 2026.
