Buġibba Water Park Reopens, With A Focus On Autism And ADHD Inclusion
The highly anticipated Water Park in Buġibba reopened its doors to the public on the first of July.
Steve Ellul, the Executive Head of Project Green, announced that the newly refurbished park comes with an emphasis on inclusivity, aiming to provide a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Ellul, during a recent interview, expressed the project’s commitment to ensuring that the water park is a summer destination for everyone.
He stated, “The aim is to have open spaces not only enjoyed in the winter but also during the summer.” By extending the park’s operating season, Project Green aims to provide an enriching and entertaining experience for visitors all year round.
One of the major highlights of this summer season is the water park’s dedication to inclusivity. Recognising the importance of catering to the needs of children with autism and ADHD, Project Green has allocated specific hours for their enjoyment.
Ellul said, “This year, we are focusing more on inclusion. In fact, this year we are dedicating an additional hour specifically for children who have autism or ADHD. We will have a dedicated hour each week, even in collaboration with associations representing these children.”
This thoughtful initiative ensures that children with autism and ADHD can fully immerse themselves in the water park’s attractions and create lasting memories.
By providing a dedicated hour each week, Project Green aims to create a safe and comfortable environment where these children can enjoy the best experiences alongside their peers.
Furthermore, Project Green has invested in specialised equipment to enhance accessibility for individuals with special needs. Specially designed wheelchairs have been introduced, enabling children with mobility challenges to play and socialise freely in the water park.
Ellul explained, “This year, we invested in wheelchairs that are more adapted for water use because we want to ensure that anyone who comes here can enjoy these open spaces.”
These specially designed wheelchairs will enable children to navigate the water park’s various attractions, ensuring an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all. With a strong commitment to accessibility, Project Green aims to break down barriers and create an environment that promotes equality and acceptance.
The reopening of the Water Park in Buġibba brings with it a renewed sense of excitement and anticipation. Not only will visitors have the opportunity to cool off and have fun in the summer heat, but they will also witness a notable emphasis on inclusivity.
Project Green’s dedication to providing specific hours for children with autism and ADHD, as well as investing in specialised equipment, reflects their commitment to ensuring that everyone can partake in the joy and excitement of the water park experience.
As summer approaches, families, friends, and individuals from all walks of life can look forward to a memorable and inclusive visit to the Water Park in Buġibba. Thanks to Project Green’s unwavering efforts, the park stands as a symbol of unity, diversity, and the belief that fun and enjoyment should be accessible to everyone.
