Maltese authorities brought in a wheel loader* to pull down illegal structures from two Marsa bars that act as popular hangouts among African migrants. 

Police and officials from the Cleansing and Maintenance Division swooped down on the Tavern Takeout and New Tiger Bar in Xatt il-Mollijiet, both a stone’s throw away from the Marsa open centre.

ONE News reported that they removed illegal structures, as well as tables and chairs that had been placed there without the proper permit. 

This came a day after a major irregular migration raid in Marsa, which saw 49 migrants arrested and the electricity and water services of the places they were residing at shut off.
