Burnt-Out BMW Remains Left In Marsaskala Street A Week After Catching Fire

The burnt-out leftovers of a BMW that caught fire in the early hours remains in the spot it burnt down, to the chagrin of local residents.

A week after the car burnt down at around 1.40am in Triq in-Nadur, the eyesore has yet to be removed.

“It’s like we’re in a war-torn country,” one local told Lovin Malta.

Police investigations into the incident are underway, with TVM reporting that police have CCTV footage that can help reveal what happened to the car, and whether foul play was involved.

Aside from the formerly white BMW, other nearby parked cars were also damaged before Civil Protection Department firefighters could contain the fire. No one was hurt in the incident.

But for residents in the area, seeing the remnants, alongside all the debris, remaining where the incident occurred with little information as to when it’ll be cleared up is quickly becoming no longer acceptable.

“We’re not sure what everyone is waiting for to have it removed,” one local ended.

This is far from the only damaged car that is left untended to as residents complain; over in St Paul’s Bay, one street has been waiting months for a collapsed wall to be cleaned up.

What do you make of the leftover debris left there for a week now?
