Watch: ‘Malta Was #1 In The World Per Capita With Jack Daniels’ Timmy Grech Tells MeetInc.

In March 1881, Charles Grech returned to Malta after a distinguished career in Britain’s Royal Navy.

He set up a small tobacconist and bottle shop in Republic Street Valletta. Even through the darkest days during World War II, doors remained open to patrons.

Speaking to MeetInc. as part of a new series introducing The People Behind The Business, Timmy Grech Company Director of Charles Grech, takes us through the legacy and the story behind Malta’s beloved brand.

“The American Sixth Fleet came in, with industrial amounts of alcohol, they used to hide them in the missiles. The missiles would be empty full of Jack Daniels,” Grech said.

During his interview, he continues to share more interesting facts which include impressive statements.

“We were actually number one in the world per capita with Jack Daniels,” he continued.
