A 12-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a traffic incident in Birżebbuġa.

The girl was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital yesterday evening at around 5pm after being struck by a vehicle near Pretty Bay.

According to initial reports, the girl was hit by a Toyota Yaris, which was being driven by a 40-year-old man residing in Ħaż-Żabbar.

The victim received medical assistance and was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where she was certified to be suffering from serious injuries.

The case was reported to Magistrate Dr Astrid May Grima LL.D., who initiated an inquiry while police investigations are still ongoing
