‘We Have Caravans Parked Right In Front Of Our House’: Xgħajra Residents Speak Out
Residents have spoken out about the fleet of caravans that has been occupying the coast of Xgħajra all summer, causing an inconvenience to property owners in the area.
One resident lamented how they’ve even had to deal with having caravans parked right in front of their house.
“We bought a sea view apartment years back and ended up with caravans constantly in front of us, with loud music and trash left behind, as well as taking up all of the parking,” they said.
“We’ve been trying to speak out about this for months, however, it fell on deaf ears.”
“These caravans used to occupy areas in Wied il-Għajn, but after they were removed, most of them came to Xgħajra, right in front of residents’ homes,” the resident told Lovin Malta.
“They’re not breaking any laws, however, we’ve had to deal with more than 20 caravans parked here, with some of them even playing loud music throughout the night,” they explained.
Photos sent to Lovin Malta show the caravans parked right in front of residents’ houses, with some even double parking and taking up most of the road. One of the double-parked vans even has two mobile toilets at the back.
“We’ve even seen them throwing out their waste from the mobile toilet out in the grass at four in the morning,” the resident said.
One of the caravan owners even set up a tent with a table that sits ten people right next to the caravan, kept there in a permanent manner.
The resident also explained how after a weekend, the amount of trash left over in the area is abysmal, with the local council even having to send over cleaners specifically for that area.
This is far from the first time that people have complained about caravans in Malta, with the area of Mistra a similar hotspot for caravan owners during the summer days.
