Caruana Galizia Family Lawyer Accuses Keith Schembri Of Alerting Murder Suspects Prior To Their Arrest
Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi, the lawyer of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s family in the ongoing murder case, has accused Keith Schembri of having abused of secret information from the Malta Security Services to alert the three accused prior to their arrest.
“I write this out of my responsibility as a Member of Parliament,” Azzopardi wrote on Facebook. “Keith Schembri is one of the criminal masterminds in the assassination of Daphne. He paid out money for this.”
“Keith Schembri alerted the three accused prior to their arrest, abusing of MSS secret information. Keith Schembri as recently as last week was sending written messages to Yorgen French under Police bail telling him what to say and not.
Joseph Muscat: YOU have blood on your hands.”
In a message to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Azzopardi said: “You garbage, corrupt, criminal killers. No wonder you’ve spent two years holding this [information] to yourself while defending [Schembri].”
Last year, leaked transcripts from the police interrogation of George Degiorgio, one of three men charged with the assassination of Caruana Galizia, revealed that investigators were concerned that he and his accomplices had been tipped off about the upcoming police raid.
This is because the suspects has already thrown their phones into the sea, Degiorgio had his partner’s mobile number written on his hand – which would have proven handy if he was allowed a phone call after his arrest – and Degiorgio’s dog Maya was not tied to her usual spot, an absence the police would have found striking if they had been tracking the suspects and monitoring the potato shed for a while.
