Caruana Galizia Murder Suspect ‘Squealed To Police’ About Middleman Over A Year Ago
One of the three men charged with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia gave police the name of a middleman involved in the car bomb assassination over a year and a half ago, according to a report by MaltaToday.
Vincent Muscat, who allegedly acted as a spotter during the assassination, has been cooperating with police for a while and has reportedly been offered a plea bargain, where his sentence will be reduced in exchange for testimony.
However, MaltaToday has now reported that Muscat only provided the middleman’s name after police had corroborated the information in their possession and that he refused to offer up information on past crimes.
The murder suspect, who is unemployed, was implicated in the notorious 2010 heist on the HSBC headquarters and was reportedly also questioned about other unsolved car bombs.
Earlier this month, Times of Malta reported that police suspect a major businessman of masterminding Caruana Galizia’s assassination and two other people, one connected with the gambling scene and the other with the smuggling underworld, of involvement in the murder.
However, they have yet to interrogate the three suspects as they are awaiting more rock solid evidence against them before prosecuting them.
