Cassola Wants People To Take To The Streets To Force Robert Abela’s Resignation
Arnold Cassola wants people to take to the streets to pressure Prime Minister Robert Abela to resign.
Cassola issued his latest call for public protests after Times of Malta reported that Johann Buttigieg will reappointed as CEO of the Planning Authority.
“Are Robert Abela and Miriam Dalli in their right senses?” he questioned.
Clint Camilleri, and not Miriam Dalli, is in charge of the Planning Authority.
“Apart from the many controversies he was involved in, Buttigieg was in the pockets of the alleged mastermind of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination during his previous tenure at the PA.”
Leaked chats show that Buttigieg had discussed property business deals with Yorgen Fenech in 2019, a few months before Fenech was arrested on suspicion of masterminding Caruana Galizia’s assassination.
He said that if the Times story about Buttigieg’s reappointment is true, it is “further reason for the people to take to the streets to force the resignation of a political administration that is corrupt to the marrow.”
Cassola, who plans to launch the Momentum political party later this month, told Lovin Malta that he believes the Prime Minister should resign.
“He has a proven record of protecting corruptors and of curtailing basic citizens’ rights,” he said.
“He tried to do it with the Jean Paul Sofia public inquiry and he is trying to do it now with the restrictions on magisterial inquiries.”
“The PL should appoint a new clean leader and Prime Minister, who should clean up all the muck that Muscat brought about and that Abela is now protecting, until next elections are held in two years’ time.”
However, when asked whether he intends to organise a protest himself, Cassola said that he wants Repubblika and Moviment Graffitti to take the lead because “they have experience in organising such events and a proven track record of consistency and credibility.”
